Estudo da tradução de cartas patrimoniais com base em um corpus paralelo bilíngue (inglês-português)
Descrição
Heritage charters are documents that define concepts and set up guidelines aimed at conservation, preservation and restoration of cultural heritage. New charters are constantly issued, which requires the translation of these specialized texts. This paper presents a study of heritage charters translation based on a parallel corpus composed of 32 charters in English and their respective translations in Portuguese, that was also used in a previous study to set up a glossary of terms used in heritage charters. By analyzing the corpus, it was possible to describe heritage charters structure, understand some conditions and characteristics of the translated charters and analyze aspects relating to translation of their terminology. The study used the program WordSmith Tools 6.0 and was based on theoretical foundations of Terminology (CABRÉ, 1993; 1999) and Corpus Linguistics (BERBER SARDINHA, 2000; 2004).
