This essay provides an overview of the industrialization process in São Paulo, Brazil, during the early 20th century, with a particular focus on the textile industry and cottonseed oil production. The historical development of factories and industries in different regions of the state stands out, highlighting some factors, such as the expansion of coffee growing, which boosted industrialization in the cotton sector. The subsequent shift from coffee to cotton cultivation is also discussed, noting the economic impact of the production of edible oils until 1950, especially cottonseed oil, which further boosted the urbanization of cities, influenced by industrial activities. The results were presented in cartography elaborated with georeferencing techniques by Quantum Gis software (QGIS) and analyzes of the spatial distribution of the industrial landscape in the state of São Paulo.
