Por conta da relev\u00e2ncia da tem\u00e1tica da introdu\u00e7\u00e3o do tijolo em fins daquele per\u00edodo para a hist\u00f3ria da constru\u00e7\u00e3o civil brasileira, o presente artigo responde a alguns questionamentos ainda pouco explorados pela bibliografia existente. A partir disso, fez-se um levantamento em fontes prim\u00e1rias de edifica\u00e7\u00f5es ferrovi\u00e1rias e olarias, no interior de S\u00e3o Paulo entre 1860 e 1920, e comparou-se com os dados presentes nas fontes prim\u00e1rias com a bibliografia existente. Nessa confronta\u00e7\u00e3o, verifica-se que n\u00e3o h\u00e1 um consenso entre os autores sobre o assunto e que alguns questionamentos n\u00e3o encontram respostas na bibliografia sobre o tema, sendo necess\u00e1rio um estudo mais avan\u00e7ado em arquivos da \u00e9poca para verifica\u00e7\u00e3o. Consultando as fontes prim\u00e1rias, o que se pode concluir \u00e9 que o caf\u00e9 e a ferrovia foram os respons\u00e1veis pela expans\u00e3o das olarias e do uso do tijolo a partir de meados do s\u00e9culo XIX, ao contr\u00e1rio do que afirmam trabalhos j\u00e1 existentes, que atribuem esse feito aos trabalhadores imigrantes.           ,              The ceramic industry was one of the first to develop in the state of S\u00e3o Paulo, in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Due to the relevance of the theme about the introduction of the brick at the end of that period for the history of Brazilian civil construction, this article answers some underexplored questions by the existing bibliography. From this, a survey was carried out on primary sources of railway buildings and clay industries, in the countryside of S\u00e3o Paulo between 1860 and 1920, and those were compared with the data present in the primary sources with the existing bibliography. In this confrontation, we observe no consensus among the authors on the subject and that some questions do not find answers in the bibliography on the topic, requiring a more advanced study in archives of the time for verification.
